Hannah Syrjala

Paralegal

Hannah has been working in Criminal Law for nearly a decade. She began her career in the Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney’s office where, in addition to her work on criminal matters, she acted as Interim Director of Superior Child Advocacy Center, trained with the FBI and the Michigan Prosecuting Attorney’s Association as a Forensic Interviewer, co-authored the protocol for police response to suspected child abuse situations in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and served as a consultant for remote Forensic Interviewing protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. After relocating to Milwaukee in 2020, she worked in the Milwaukee Public Defender Trial Division as the Appointments Coordinator, where she helped indigent offenders secure legal counsel. She has an AS in Criminal Justice and is completing a BS in Legal Studies, and is a member of the International Association of Crime Analysts and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations.

Before her legal career, Hannah worked as a painter and plasterer for a high-end design company in San Diego, tended bar and performed in a jazz/funk band in Boston, performed as a corps dancer in a professional contemporary dance company, and taught fitness classes in an all-women’s gym as a certified personal trainer.
